Counting down to December 1 - when the Franklin Rd Christmas lights go on. The street will light up, as it has for the past 19 years, when residents decorate their homes with garlands of lights for public viewing until Christmas Eve.
After the symbolic ‘turning on’ at 6.30pm, there be live entertainment including musicians and dancers, a sausage sizzle and chicken barbecue.
In the final week before Christmas Eve, Santa and his elves will be walking the street, giving out free lollies to kids.
The Franklin Rd Christmas lights will turn on during the evenings from December 1 to Christmas Eve. The lights will switch off at 11pm every night to conserve energy. The light switch-on this year will also feature a surprise public event at the Rob Roy Tavern (formerly the Birdcage) at 9.30pm.
